I just built a giant arena with Comba on an alt island and I want to make it into a pvp warp. According to the staff its not possible to have an island with pvp enabled (although i'm sure it is with worldguard and so..) , but I think it would be beneficial to most players if pvp was a setting you could toggle in your /is settings. #biosgate (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
I see your point, Mervyn, but what if you had to get special permission from staff with WorldGuard permissions? A sort of approval that would allow a WorldGuard region for pvp to work in a specific area, if not, an entire island designed for pvp. The original pvp arena at spawn can get quite bland over time and maybe it'll be interesting to spice things up with other potential pvp arenas.
I feel like this would be implemented best as a donation perk, as I really doubt most people who donated to the server would risk their rank to get a few likely trash items out of TP scamming. Another way to implement this would be to mark out "staff approved" PvP areas with WG, since as mentioned above, the spawn PvP is really bland after it being the only available option for a while.
The spawn PvP is honestly terrible for a PvP arena. It has a lot of uneven areas, leading to an unfair fight. With more PvP arenas getting introduced, it would eliminate this issue as people would recognize these issues. While a donation perk is a great way to get around this, I feel that you are limiting your options. Making a WorldGaurd variant for members would be a great idea
You could always build your pvp arena in the nether on top of the bedrock since pvp is enabled there c:
Zach I see your point but once they get permission from staff doesn't mean that they won't use it for tp scamming. Some donors don't mind getting ban for few days and that will lead to them creating tp scamming issues.
Tp scamming shouldn't be that big of an issue since most people aren't going to go pvp with all of their stuff on them. Also, what would be the difference between the pvp in spawn and on player islands other than the playing area.
simply roll back any tp scammed items and revoke those same items from the one at fault when it happens using a decent inventory checking plugin revoke donator ranks from repeat offenders problem solved
yes you can lol says it directly in the ToC considering the way its written it probably wouldn't hold up in court but no ones going to go to court over a Minecraft server rank
I think PvP toggle on islands should be enabled. Yes people would "tp kill" or whatever you want to call it but it means players can have PvP arenas on their islands. Tp killing is legit the easiest thing to report and it's probably pretty easy for the staff to get you the items you had (I could be wrong on that last part). I think PvP toggle on islands should be a command that all players should have, as long as it gives some kind of warning when you get into a PvP zone.
Couldn't you theoretically also scam people by asking them to teleport to you in the nether? If that works allowing players to enable pvp on their island won't really make a difference concerning teleport scamming.
This should be added. Adding it wont make a difference with tp scam. 1) People can to tp scam in the nether 2) People can /etpa in the PVP arena So, adding this wouldnt really make a difference since all PVP areas can easily be tp scammable.
How about we don't enable PVP on the islands, but we make a warp somewhere in the spawn world with multiple PVP arenas? And have a contest for them to be built by the players?
I think this is a smart idea! The only flaw is that the problematic kiddos that decide "Hey! Spawn-killing is a great idea!" would abuse this. I really like your PvP arena and hope to use it soon.
I agree with this viewpoint but I would like to follow it up with this. I do not believe that things should be left out of the server because of abuse potential. I think that anything that is good for the general population of players should be added/kept. Those who would abuse would abuse anything they were given and don't deserve to be there anyways. If anyone would abuse, they will find a way to either way. If you provide them with a way to abuse that is very spottable and reportable because it affects another player is a good way to weed out the unwanted folk who abuse/troll/grief. Feel free to argue my point, that is your right as a human. -Moss
