So I came back on the server after being away for a few weeks. And I saw some people who were telling other players simply to follow the rules (Myself included) And doing that caused many players to complain about me and a few other players "Mini Modding" Now for example, a player advertised their youtube channel, and a few players said "That is advertisement isn't it?" to which this was followed by "yeah, stop minimodding, ez ban" (ScreenShot of above ^^^) https://gyazo.com/c728e4418c6b24ee9071ef2428387d65 Now, I don't know what this obsession of minimodding is. But it is simply a catch 22. If you are unfamiliar with catch 22, here is the definition https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=catch+22+definition Basically, if someone believes someone is "Mini Modding" and tells them to stop "Mini Modding" then they themselves have just been a "Mini Mod" This may seem confusing, however, the idea of "Mini Modding" being an offense is ridiculous. Having players that are afraid to call people on not following the rules because they will be punished, is ridiculous. Without having the powers of a mod there is no danger of players using peer pressure to keep other members of the server following the rules. Please, if you think I am out of line, I appreciate all opinions, and criticism. -Moss
I agree with you, but if you are constantly telling players what to do, then that is bad. If you just occasionally remind players of rules i think that is fine.
The reason why most people hate minimodding is because it causes regular players with no power at all to go on power trips and enforce rules that they don't know crap about. Minimodding usually isn't defined as simply reminding players of the rules. Most of the time it's attempting to actually assert yourself and warn people about/enforce rules. This almost never goes well because the idiots that actually think they have power don't really know anything about the rules and just end up reflecting their broken comprehension of the rules onto other players. also stop using gyazo please it's cancer either get https://getsharex.com/ or learn how to directly link images pls
I agree with you completely agree with you Xbox. I understand frustration with people believing that they have more power than they do. But it should be encouraged for players to call others out on not following the rules, because it maybe will cause greater understanding of the rules for all players.
Then it's not minimodding. And as for Xbox, he's pretty right. But also the whole effect of twenty people yelling at one person just for a simple offense. If someone didn't know the no caps rule, they'd be bombarded with tons of "NO Caps" and that doesn't really create a welcome environment.
I understand that you believe you were doing the right thing. Thank you! But that did not need a warning. Also, we're fine with "Mini Modding" it does gets annoying at times, but it's fine. The staff team is here to do a job, if you'd like to be a part of the team, apply. If they post a link to their channel you can then warn them if nobody else is online to do so, but it really doesn't need a warn. That's like calling Cap out for saying that he's streaming. It's fine. Anyways, "Mini Modding" is not an offense and what they were saying was irrelevant and shouldn't be taken to heart. If there were no staff members online during which this happened then, of course, you can "Mini Mod". What they did was "ridiculous", indeed. And unless you've heard from an actual staff member that "Mini Modding" is against the rules, don't take advice from members that have just joined the server to broadcast their new YT channel's series they're probably planning to start on this server. I personally think "Mini Modding" is slightly annoying and for the exact reason that Xbox stated. Yet, although I have that opinion, I fully understand that I have no effect on changing what people do. You are fine, once again, you are fine. It's fine to "Mini Mod" when there are no staff members online, Thanks for sharing. ~Emm.
I totally think Mini Modding is a fine thing. For example if someone is cursing in chat, it's totally fine to tell a player, "Hey man, that's not cool and it's against the rules. Please refrain from doing that." Or if a player is speaking very poorly of the staff members in chat, but no staff member is there to warn them. A player can say "Don't do that, the staff are fine, and you're just trying to start drama in that chat." Now here's where it gets annoying. If someone uses all caps on a single occasion and says "HEY HOW IS EVERYONE DOING TODAY?" and a player says "Don't use caps" That really just adds unnecessary modding to the chat. Now if a player continuously keeps using caps, that's fine to warn them as a player. For example if someone says "NO I DIED AND LOST ALL MY STUFF WHAT THE HECK," and then they continue to spam in all caps, that's where they should be told to calm down and quit spamming with caps.
And that's fine, as long as there's no staff online. As I said earlier, it's not really a "nobody can enforce the rules but us" sorta thing but more of a "players yelling at eachother while star are also reprimanding them is chaotic and unorganized. I used the example of a player who breaks the caps rule. If a staff member and a few players all reprimand them, that's going to make them feel singled out and attacked. If just the staff member warns them, it's a minor reminder of the rules. It's like during an arrest, people standing behind he police officer yelling at the suspect just doesn't help in any way. It makes it harder for the police to talk to the subject and threatens the subject more.
