This is not a thread to suckup, but its more of a way to say, sorry. I have been acting like a dick to staff for previous reasons, my mom is going to new york, my couisins are going to new york, my grandfather recently passed my nonno has about 24% of more oxygen left and uses a 24/7 air supply. These events in my life have made it so that I take it out on others, which is horrible. The amount of idiots that staff have to deal with and im getting in their way of work, so if any staff members are reading this, sorry. mutton heads
Look, man. I was happy you're here. But one of the biggest issues most of the mcnetworkers have is coming across the realization that OSB is not MCN. The only similarity is sky lock and the fact that they both have the .co IP. On MCN you'd get away with stuff like block glitching and mouthing off. The staffing team was much more lenient and look where it got them. This team is different. The owner is active and there's actually more than one head admin. It has been working great for a such a long time. The server isn't MCN. You were banned for exploiting in parkour. I don't know what's so hard to understand about "don't exploit". It's common sense. What an OSB player would do is tell the staff of the exploit. We're tired of babysitting people who deserve punishment but whine about it when they get it. Listen to the staff and their rules and you won't be banned. You probably would have been unbanned if you cooperated and showed where the exploit was instead of making a series of sarcastic and mean appeals.
What? Were you even around at all during the highest point of MCNetwork (hint: the answer is a solid no)? The server used to be regularly full with 400/400 player slots filled, and the staff were much more lenient back then than they were during the server's downfall in my opinion. The success wasn't short-lived either. Even during 2.0 the server regularly attracted around 200 players at a time. The only issue that server had was the fact that the owner only checked up on us every 4-6 months, which was a HUGE issue and was probably the only reason that server's success halted so quickly. Whenever one thing went wrong, the server was basically screwed as there was nobody there to fix anything. Hell, a hacker seized control of the server towards the end of its lifespan. The staff team was not to blame for the server's downfall. It all came down to the ownership and only the ownership.
We were to blame. Ok, so 1.0 was great. 2.0 was ok. But 3.0, which, by the way, is where many of the cancerous (for lack of a better word) attitudes come from. And yes, I was here during 1.0. I left during 2.0 and came back for 3. It did not regularly have 400 players. Mate, you forgot I was Sr. Staff. I was also lenient. I was also to blame. Don't forget when the staff all left (except for mayo and marble of course), that moment was when MCN died. Now listen, we can debate MCN all we want but the truth is that by the end, it was lenient. And two hackers if you count Jacob. So let's pretend it was zach's fault. He should have given fink or randomer console if he wasn't going to be online. But that gave us no excuse to let such an awful community develop. This is not MCN. Building swasticas was funny there, it's offensive here. Being mean was generally ok (within limits). Here you say please and thank you. Whining around on the forums was commonplace there. If you're playing on OSB and using OSB's forums then you play by our rules. Not your own, not ZachDieBolds, ours.
Dominem, When did I talk about mcnetwork on this forum post. Im saying sorry because I was rude to other staff members because of those reasons stated, you bringing up mcnetwork on this post was not needed and outside of this box.
Yes, there were regularly 400 players around mid to late 2012. You don't remember that probably because you weren't there. You seem to also forget that I was a long time Mod/Sr. Mod on MCN's creative server. I was never staff on the skyblock server (only reason for that was likely my age at the time), but I wasn't some insignificant random either. The leaving of the entire staff team was a protest of the lack of communication with ownership, as Zach was essentially leaving the staff team to figure out everything themselves and run the server so that they can make him money, all without the proper tools to do so. Once again, this traces back to being Zach's fault. I do agree that the staff team was quite lenient, but (no offense to the OSB staff, you all are doing a fine job of running this place your own way) the leniency of the staff at one point got MCN a larger playerbase than OSB could ever dream of achieving, so your entire "look where the leniency got them" argument is invalidated right there. I do agree that your server has a completely different set of rules which cannot be ignored and that the MCN community was slightly more toxic than the community on OSB. I don't think I was ever arguing this however and you do have to accept that the community overlap was brought on by yourselves by purchasing what was probably the most commonly used domain to connect to MCN. Also, if I remember correctly, weren't you one of the players who essentially put the nail in the coffin for MCN and griefed/destroyed all the hard work put in by players/staff of the server before it even shut down completely? I believe you were given * perms and messed everything up since you knew Zach wouldn't come on to recover anything. Who knows if you'll do the exact same thing to this server some day?
I played .co since it's first iteration, the lack of participation on the owner's part was a pretty large problem, combined with some of the more cancerous staff members who decided to dupe/ sell items for paypal money and plugins breaking with no way to replace them, it's not our fault the server died, it's the fact that the owner didn't give us the tools to fix it ourselves.
That isn't true xbox. "the leniency of the staff at one point got MCN a larger playerbase than OSB could ever dream of achieving, so your entire "look where the leniency got them" argument is invalidated right there." I actually met zach back when .co was big, it was right when i we beginning to start my servers up. He was very active, and offered a lot of help. It wasn' the "leniency" of the staff. It was an active owner.
The lenient staff team sure as hell obviously didn't harm the success of the server too much, however. He was also incredibly inactive during 2.0, which, while not being the absolute peak of the server, was still a very high point for the server.
Alright guys, end it if zach new that mcnetwork was gonna die he should of gave it to Fink or get fritter back.
The lenient staff team was the cause for it to fall. Trust me, i kept an eye on it. Why do you think i knew i could buy the domain name? I could come on there everyday and advertise.
It wasn't because of staff, it was a little part of it, it was probably because you griefed. And yeah someone is gonna tell me it was for the best because it would make zach go on, but look where it went, nowhere.
Didn't you literally just say that the active owner was what was keeping the server afloat? The fall of the server was due to the owner not being able to take care of problems when they presented themselves. There were also problems that were staff related, but the main problem presented was that all the staff got fed up with Zach's inactivity on the server, and rightfully so, so they all quit out of protest. That wasn't any sort of issue with how the staff ran the place, it's simply that no one wanted to run it, which is another issue again tracing back to Zach's absence. There were also the incredibly abusive ones who destroyed the server for those of us who still came on every once in a while in the end (thanks a lot Dom). I completely respect your approach to running a skyblock server, and I incredibly respect the fact that you can come on rather often and actually get shit done for the server. I would however like to respectfully ask that you don't put down the MCNetwork staff team that I was apart of for some time, as we actually did care about keeping the server afloat until we realized that we were just making Zach some money without anything given to us in return. The two servers took completely different approaches as far as staffing goes, and both attracted a fair amount of players who each preferred a different type of community. Either approach is fine, but you can't deny that if Zach came online for even 10-15 minutes a day, the server would probably still be alive and well today.
