Since you cant sell ores to the shop, I think ore generator would be a good plugin to add to the server. If you don't know what it is I'll explain: When you create a cobble generator, and start to mine it has a chance to create ores rather than cobble. I would love for this to be implemented as it will encourage more redstone contraptions and create a wider range of money making within the server.
This would be nice but there would be some problems. For starters new people who have no money or items to break these ores so it takes a while. 2nd of all people stress out trying to get cobble stone with ores keep popping up and usually break pickaxes from trying to get cobble stone. 3rd it would ruin the "Original" name of our server as in many other servers do this that I know of. Last but not least, do you really want to spend your time voting and spending quality in game money just to get cobblestone because of the ores hogging up the generator? Now if it was a totally different generator how would you make it without the cobblestone showing up? If someone was auctioning or selling it in /ah it's just pointless. Because you can easily get as much as you want for free right? Also you would have to find a plugin that works for only a certain generator right? These are just my opinions (if I spelled it right) about this idea.
Whenever i start off skyblocks i make a redstone cobble generator and the ore spawning servers i leave INSTANTLY cause they stuff up the redstone (not fully sure how but it does), and like Nyxeonn said... It will ruin the economy soon...
Your first point is already a problem. For members to be able to get ores they have to grind for ages to sell cobblestone to get enough money to buy iron or diamonds etc. For your second point, as a new player I really wouldn't be moaning about getting ores for free, I would hardly consider it stressful. For your third point, many servers may have this but at the same time many servers don't so your point is pretty much invalid. For your final point, I don't think you quite understand the concept of the plugin, its only a chance of spawning an ore, the majority of it will be cobblestone. I wouldn't consider it wasting "Quality time" as people like to spend their time doing different things. For those people that would like to make bigger generators to optimise the plugin, they can do that at their own free will, no one is forcing them to. Finally I don't think you nor starwars fully understands what ruining the economy means. It would stay the same. Some people would sell ores, some people would buy them. Its not like were dealing with expensive items such as Dragon Eggs. The economy would stay the same and new players would stick around. I have huge respect for the members that stay with the server and grind for ages to get somewhere. The problem is, some members get discouraged by all the ranks anyway and then realise how difficult it is to get anywhere and just quit. I think it will be beneficial to everyone to have this implemented.
Yeh they should totally add this plugin. I mentioned that they should add this a long time ago but I never got any response to it. But I agree with what you said about members getting discouraged by the ranks and that this plug in would probably help them stay. And it wouldn't really ruin the economy, because like stated before, you can't even sell ores at shop ;'D.
Alrighty so this is how it goes down. Point 1. It is true that it takes a while to break ores without the right pick and actually it doesn't take ages to earn money as we have games including voting to boost yourself a bit. Point 2. Actually you get a decent amount of money selling cobblestone to help you start out and you don't need to worry about ores for quite a while. Point 3. Now depending on how lucky you are you wouldn't be moaning so much because you can get iron which helps but still it's somewhat stressful for players like me. Point 4. My point isn't invalid because I said "Many other servers do this" I never said all servers do this it's just more servers that don't keep the original concept sometimes do it. Point 5. I do understand plugins and if you told us that cobblestone spawns more often that changes a lot more things. Point 6. Do not compare me with starwars or anyone as in I never talked about the economy. Point 7. I do agree people get discouraged by ranked members and we should give them a little more rights but that's another topic. Point 8. I did just say these are my opinions.
