OSB and Kane's History.

    you may know me as: Moe, Molle, Kane, Melvin, UltimateKane. but most people call me kane, i decided to start with minecraft again after many breaks etc, (been playing since 2013 and specifically on OSB since 2015.) So i had to come back to my favorite server right? i came back to see that we have 13 players on max weekly.... when i last played we had 30 players on weekly,.. sometimes up to 50... so something have changed, and i dont know what but i do have options on how to bring people back, the forum used to be more Active.. for example it used to get more than 5 threads each 48 hours but now it has the same threads on latest threads for 1 month... This server clearly needs more Active staff and a better Money system, back when i was 14 and unexperienced with skyblocks i used to go to a warp on someones Island where i could buy gunpowder from a creeper farm and i used to make thousands of Money able to buy spawners etc and start my own farms.. that was everyones Dream.. to have spawners and be respected. Now OSB have a different system for Money.. they have decreased the drop rate (i Think) on profitable drops and they have also made it harder to make Money for spawners or other valuable Essentials. back in the Days i could buy 20 spawners from hard work in 1 week.. now its impossible and not as profitable... the main reason me and my friends played OSB was because we could make Money thru spawners and there was more people playing.. right now the avg online when im playing is 3-6 and thats 3 actual players 2 staff and myself.. its not fun when you dont have anyone to compete with who can build the best or who can make the best farm etc.. OSB is simply dead and Changes needs to take action.
    My Thoughts:
    Keep the prices for spawners etc in donor shop but make extreme+ be able to /espawner pigzombies etc... the exotic and rare mobs.
    Add more profit from auto farms (cactus, pumpkin, seeds,)
    Add more profit to items in general, skyblock does comedown to making Money by building stuff.
    Host events where players can win stuff.
    Recruit more staff members. (for real)
    thats about it for the server, im sure i forgot 50% of what i was thinking but anyways,.

    by making it easier with profits etc you also wanna have server resets more often etc..

    Hi Kane,

    I'll write my reply in the same order as you did.
    The forums aren't as active anymore because we mostly use Discord to handle with problems and post small updates now.
    I personally don't see how making money easier to earn would improve the economy. Please explain. The main way to earn money is still building farms like it has been for ages.
    I recall you and your friend, Fillerfil I suppose?, were known as afkers next to your spawners.
    I get your idea of, easier money means faster reset but a reset that takes this long allows people to actually have a big project. But we'll discuss this.

    I disagree with your statement about our staff being inactive. At this moment we have 2 staff members on top playtime of the month. You're first saying we need more staff, then you say we almost have as much staff on as players and then you finish by repeating we need to recruit more staff?

    another factor is that school is in for a lot of players and that usually hurts the server A LOT. but another factor is that the server has been up for 9 months and nothing has really changed. Some things are still broken and there isn't really anyone on to fix it or is capable of fixing it. all the staff is either too low or simply not 1stglitch smart enough to fix problems. the social side of the server (players) is mostly dead due to the fact that there are no new implements, for instance, we would've had a reset by now, and that usually increases the player base back up to 20-30 on at all times, but since we have decided to stick to a yearly reset, people don't come back as it is the same as when they left it. Now don't get me wrong, a lot of players like that, but then again a lot of players also like a fresh new start every so often. The playerbase problem will never be fixed until we have a staff team of more than 10 active people, and admins able to be 1stglitch if yet even better. until then, we will just have to make with what we have and survive until school is out and donations and players start flowing in again.

    I agree with you a 100% i feel like we need a more Active staff crew and coders/1stglitches-..
    Looking at the old staff team the server were more stable and we had more activity... now the only people that are Actively playing is staff and time to time players.. we need a big change and we need it now..

    ive been on the discord for a week now and ive never seen a real chat or discussion being held in a text channel on discord, the only sight of Life on your discord is the minechat bot and people typing thru discord to talk with players on the server.. its 18/12 and the #1 playtime is criptovirus who has played for 120h? when the server were Active and popular you usually had someone with 300h+ on the top and followed down with a minimum of 200h... 18 Days into the month.. now i would say that its bad to have staff on the playtime top because that just shows the inactivity from other non-staff players.

    My Economy plan:
    So ive been playing for about 5-10 hours the past 3 Days and ive been working on an automatic pumpkin farm, now this farm has cost me a lot of immortal kits and its not producing way Close to my expectations.

    2016: Back in the Days when Reags and Lee were admins the economy plan was much better.. you could do /warp gunpowder and travel to Another Island where you could buy gunpowder from a profit shop and make huge profits in a day.. this made the skyblock experience super fun and enjoyable for me and friends where we could spend all our Money on farms etc while we still could make Money easily from the profit shop. we basically bought and bought items without being scared of economy problems because the farms had huge profits..

    Currently: Right now there is barely any profit shops (from my perspective) and the profit shops that we have arent really profit shops... you make super slow Money from Selling sugar canes or pumpkins and without /pv its a waste of time really, Another option for this is to add the command /sell hand /sell all so that you can quickly sell your inventory and keep making Money instead of having to do /warp profit /warp shop ... etc..

    Hey there again,

    Dave has a point, school indeed hurts the server a lot.
    I personally can see how a faster reset can be a positive change but I'll have to discuss this with the team.
    I'm not sure what 'broken' things you're talking about but any major 'broken' things get fixed as soon as possible. I'd also like to point out the drop of players started way before 1stGlitch resigned, nothing major happened because of this.

    Kane now, you keep switching from "We need more active staff" to "your staff is too active". I'm not sure what to think of that. If we need more active staff, like you say, we'd have even more staff on, which you don't want. I think it's understandble that we can't just hire anyone to help with managing the server and we have to build trust first.

    Most problems get handled through discord in the minechat channel because most of the time someone is able to help there. The fact there are no forum posts means there is nothing to complain about right?

    300 hours in 18 days, let me calculate that, thats about 16.66 hours a day. Seems a little unreasonable don't you think? I recall Doran having close to 300 in a month yes but he was literally on all day everyday. I'm not sure what you mean with "now i would say that its bad to have staff on the playtime top because that just shows the inactivity from other non-staff players" but to me it sounds like you're saying active staff means we get less players?

    "Back in the day" the economy was always broken, as you say yourself, it was very easy to earn money and players would've reached every goal possible in 2 weeks of playing and get bored. The fact that there aren't a lot of profit shops means the players didn't make them because they want to earn money themseslfs, a profit shop earns a lot less than you'd sell it yourself.

    Dave you don't need to jump to conclusions, the last time you were an active player in the community was when you were helper. Kane, as you said yourself, you've been back for 3 days. Isn't it a little too quick to throw all these complaints at us already? I agree, we dropped in player count and our staff team is active but I don't see a big problem? We have some sweet stuff planned for the reset.

    im not trying to make it look like the server is trash or anything, im simply just saying what i Think and see from my perspective, the popularity is gone and its hard to make Money.. thats about it. thanks
